The weekend started as any other weekend would...however this one was going to be different, it was going to be a life defining one for my 5 year old.
Daddy went to work on Saturday morning and when he came home, he decided to shelve all of the thousand house chores we have to do and hit the road to see the Wild West Festival. We did just that. You can guess who had the most fun?Honestly though, the Fest was not a blast but the boys loved the riverwalk which seemed to make up for it. It was nice just to be in the sunshine all together, not working in the gardens or around the house, just to be in each others presence. I love being ALL TOGETHER. But to ensure that the day was not a bust, we did a little of this...
And a little of that....
on our way home! Jack's two favorite places to eat.
Here comes the best part though...
On Sunday, during service Pastor Kelly gave an invitation to get baptized. Jack has been asking questions about baptism for a couple years and our philosophy is to let our children ask until we feel the Lord is calling them and they fully understand the decision they are making. I began seeing God pursuing Jack's heart pretty hard about baptism a couple weeks ago. It was through our Bible time that baptism became a recurring theme (not from my planning, completely of the Lord's doing). Jack even rented a cowboy movie in which a little boy got baptized. It was then that I went to Matt and said, "I think you need to have that talk again and see where he is at because God is pursuing his little heart." When he spoke with him, Jack told him what baptism meant and said he was ready to be baptized. Matt encouraged him to attend service on Sunday and when Kelly gave the invitation to listen for Jesus to speak to him and tell him it was time to get baptized. Now I thought for sure that going up in front of everyone would make him so nervous that he would not do it! But sure enough, Jesus spoke to him and my little Jack walked to the front of the altar yesterday and pledged to be baptized. His Daddy even jumped off the drums to come down and tell him how proud he was of him and how much he loved him. I am so humbled that I get to be his mommy. I cannot put into words what it has been like to see God pursue my child's heart. Matt said yesterday, "This is what it's all about babe, this is why God made us parents, to lead our kids to Jesus." What a calling to have, what an honor for God to bestow upon us!
Jack has an incredible story. I was brought to Christ through his birth, I owe that little guy my salvation. And now almost 6 short years later, I get to watch him accept his. God is good!
And if that wasn't enough, he lost his first tooth tonight! I wanted to put a picture up but he doesn't want anyone to see it yet. Apparently his mother's screaming (out of excitement) was a little traumatic and at this time, he is allowing no photography! Although we can probably get one after the tooth fairy comes tonight...
way to go jack! what an awesome story!
